The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a non-profit organization working to strengthen democracy worldwide. Position Summary: The National Democratic Institute (NDI) seeks a Program Officer (PO) to support the Women’s Political Participation program in Ukraine. As part of the Women’s Political Participation program team, the PO will promote women’s political participation and inclusive recovery and reconstruction efforts at the local level, and ultimately contribute to democracy safeguarding in Ukraine. The PO will be responsible for design, coordination and implementation of the Program activities under general supervision of the senior program officer, and ultimately the Resident Country Director. Fluency in English is required. This is a Kyiv based position with limited travel involved.
Job Title: Women’s Political Participation Program Officer, NDI Ukraine
Required qualifications:
• A minimum of four (4) years experience working in democracy support and human rights, especially gender equality, programming with a thorough understanding of political processes in Ukraine.
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Rights, Development, Political Science, or a related subject is required. Graduate degree desired.
• Substantial understanding of the human rights context in Ukraine.
• Experience with narrative and financial reporting development for international/national non-profit organizations and projects. Previous experience working for international non-governmental organizations is desired.
• Experience in the development, collection, and analysis of M&E data.
• Previous experience of cooperation with civil society organizations. Experience in subawards management, including demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance to CSO partners in narrative and financial reporting is desired.
• Fluency in Ukrainian and English is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with civic society and local government partners.
• Ability to take a proactive approach to problem-solving and coordinate diplomatically with a wide group of people.
• Working knowledge of Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, etc.).
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the implementation of NDI’s Women’s Political Participation program in Ukraine.
• Provide technical guidance to NDI CSO partners and coordinate their narrative and financial reporting.
• Coordinate M&E data collection and analysis.
• Take an active role in program design and development of strategic and operational planning.
• Coordinate with implementing partners, vendors, and stakeholders for effective program implementation.
• Support partners in the design and implementation of joint initiatives around gender equality overall and gender-responsive governance in particular.
• Facilitate and conduct training sessions, meetings, workshops, and events to develop the capacities of program partners and promote women’s rights.
• Contribute to the weekly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Provide back-up for the day-to-day operations of the program, responding to routine program inquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate internal communication.
• Follow political developments, primarily in the domain of gender equality, and contribute to the preparation of political updates/analysis.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
