SPECIALIZED TECHNICIAN (Zhytomyr)
The Specialized Technician (ST) is an important contributor to MSF’s mission of supporting excellence in innovative, integrated care for patients in Zhytomyr Oblast. The ST’s technical ability, adaptability, drive, organization and team focus will ensure the current and future performance of a broad range of technology and equipment that is essential to our work. Everyone on our team relies on the ST’s effort and skill to do their jobs well and to improve beneficiaries’ lives, and a successful ST is a highly valued member of our community.
Main duties:
• Perform installation, maintenance, repair and management of complex equipment to the highest level of quality with the supervisor’s support and guidance. Sustain the safe and effective performance of equipment by regular monitoring, testing, maintenance and record keeping. These functions will draw on the skills of many disciplines including Qualified Electrician, Qualified Mechanic, and Biomedical Technician.
• Take initiative in identifying needed repair or maintenance work in MSF electrical installations, equipment, and vehicles and assist the logistics department in performing its functions.
• Manage the stock of consumable items, and spare parts necessary to avoid service interruptions.
• Implement measures to ensure safety and proper infection control in the facility.
• Demonstrate and encourage perfect compliance with safety requirements and medical instructions for implementing of infection control.
• Immediately inform line managers of incidents, or risks of, accident, damage, loss, theft, break-in or trespass.
• Ensure that all record keeping related to logistical maintenance is complete, accurate and available for review.
• Prepare needed reports before and after any repair or maintenance events.
• Work closely with other specialized technicians and workers in affiliated institutions and outside suppliers and technical support technicians include, at times, managing small teams of workers.
Requirements:
Education:
• Desirable: college diploma or education in engineering, physical sciences or technology trades.
Experience:
• Essential 2+ years of previous work experience in hands-on installation, maintenance, repair and management of a broad range of bio-medical and non-medical equipment.
• Desirable work experience in MSF or other humanitarian non-profit organizations.
Languages:
• Essential: Good command of written and spoken Ukrainian, Russian and English.
• Competence with common software programs for communication (word processing, image capture, email) and information management and analysis (spreadsheets, databases); experience operating non-standardized user interfaces of complex equipment.
• Skilled hands capable of performing many types of tasks.

Type of agreement: Civil law agreements (3 months extendable with Labor Agreement).
