International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is a non-profit NGO, which supports the humanitarian community with accurate, unbiased and real-time information, analysis and advice on local safety conditions.
We now seek an experienced individual to join our team as the INSO Deputy Safety Advisor Ukraine. The Deputy Safety Advisor will combine a strong humanitarian and safety background with experience of a country risk context and a clear understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles. He/She will be skilled in English, written conflict analysis and will be able to interpret, articulate and publish best information and principled, expert advice to a broad range of humanitarian actors.
Further responsibilities include:

- Closely monitor developments in conflict area on a daily basis. Inform Safety Advisor and Operations team immediately upon occurrence of an incident or in anticipation of an event
- Develop a relationship of trust local and international NGOs
- Establish and maintain an active information network, which includes NGOs, the UN, military forces, and other national and international security actors to obtain credible and relevant safety information.
- Follow up and collect detailed information on all incidents, especially where an NGO is involved or may later be affected.
- Provide NGOs with timely and credible security information and contextual analysis of the local security situation through: written and verbal alerts, weekly incident lists, bi-weekly and quarterly analytical reports.
- Supervise the Assistant Safety Advisor and a network of field monitors, be able to work remotely and travel to field sites as required.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and English languages (written and spoken)
- Ukraine national
- Graduate level education or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years working in humanitarian or security sector in insecure/conflict-affected environments.
- Proven writing and analytical abilities (sample requested).
- Demonstrable understanding of humanitarian principles and their application.
Preferred Characteristics: (Not mandatory, but advantageous. Please specific in cover letter)
- Experience with NGO security and/or project management
- Degree in Political Sciences, Journalism, Communication, History, or other relevant field
- Employment history that reflects experience in both security and civilian fields
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the historical and current social, political, and security contexts within the region.
- Detailed understanding of INSO mandate and services.
- Existing (relevant) local information networks and contacts.
- Information management and GIS skills
